GAS SECURITY VIA THE GULF OF FINLAND

Elo. 13 2024

The Balticconnector is a bi-directional natural gas pipeline between Ingå, Finland, and Paldiski, Estonia, operated by Gasgrid Finland and Elering. The Baltic Connector was installed in 2019 and started operation in November 2019. Bureau Veritas Finland had the pleasure of certifying the installation and commissioning at that time.

In 2023, due to an external event, the pipeline was damaged and moved on the seabed. In 2023, Bureau Veritas was requested to review the damage and certify the repair. This was a remarkable project as the repair had to be completed in a very short time. Thanks to a wide range of expertise from Norway and a system called Morgrip, the repair was comprehensive in both timeline and installation.

Bureau Veritas, with their offshore team, was happy to contribute to gas security in Europe through their certification efforts for Elering Estonia and Gasgrid Finland.
